About the collections

Established in 2003, the Stony Brook University Digital Library, and its associated collections and individual repositories, represents the varied and broad range of initiatives and partnerships which have developed as part of the Stony Brook University Libraries’ Digitization Program, making it a regional leader and collaborator in the digitization and preservation of the unique cultural heritage of the region, and have allowed it to forge collaborative partnerships with local, state, national and worldwide organizations from the Long Island Library Resources Council (LILRC) to  the Internet Archive’s Archive-it.org partnership community and many others.  The many and varied holdings contained within the Digital Library, reflect these valuable partnerships and the University’s commitment to creating a safe and diverse community of open intellectual inquiry, regional service and a comprehensive learning environment for all.
