Abstract
This book contains one hundred nineteen recipes with ingredients listed . The recipe chapter are titled : Appetizers ; Chinese Soups ; Egg Dishes ; Fish and Shellfish ; Pure Meat Dishes ; Vegetables ; Rice and Mien Dishes ; Chinese Desserts ; Chinese Tea ; Chinese Festival Dishes . The recipes are titled in English , Chinese , and romanized Cantonese . Before the recipes , forty-two pages discuss how to cook , menu planning , dinners , table utensils , and weights and measures . Included is a fifteen-page glossary of forty-two ingredients titled in English , Chinese , and romanized Cantonese , and a pronunciation guide for their romanization . Additional information before individual chapters , and before some recipes . There are many black and white illustrations of ingredients , techniques , and equipment . The book also discusses sayings and customs , and ten festivals . There is a seven-page two-column cross-referenced index of English and romanized recipe titles . This edition has a design on cover . the illustrations are by Doreen Feng , the author .
